Lopez and the Coast: Letter to the editor

Lopez and the coast

EDITOR: Please keep running the columns by Steve Lopez of the Los Angeles Times on the corrupt, back-room dealings of the California Coastal Commission. He understands thoroughly the scope and nature of this corruption. His well-researched and reported columns give readers a clear insight into the ways these self-aggrandizing commission members are twisting the terms of the California Coastal Act into a method to reward the highest bidders for their votes.

No wonder the commission fired its popular chief executive. He saw clearly what was happening. Now we need the governor to wake up and recognize how a commission formed to protect the coast for all Californians has turned into a barter exchange for greedy developers and a way to nickel and dime beach lovers with expensive parking and use fees. Lopez is on it. Let’s keep hearing from him.
