PURPLE WINE COMPANY expansion plan (UPE17-0056)

PURPLE WINE COMPANY expansion plan (UPE17-0056)

From our friends at Friends of Atascadero Wetlands

Next, Tuesday (May 1) is the deadline for submitting comments for this phase of the application process. If you haven’t already, please send an email to the new planner, Traci Tesconi at Traci.Tesconi@sonoma-county.org

There is no need to go into great detail now, but you can simply express concern about the possible impacts of this new activity in Graton. Some impacts could include: noise (from crush, trucks and patrons outside), traffic from customers and trucks, night lighting, parking, diesel truck fumes and overloading their wastewater system (how that might affect the creek and wetlands.) Urge the county to require the applicants to conduct studies on all these possible impacts. So far, there are no sound or traffic studies in the file, which I checked yesterday. Your subject line should be Purple Wine Company UPE17-0056. The point now is to show that there is community concern about this project. There will be other opportunities to make more specific comments later.

I am wearing two hats here, as a 31 year resident of Graton and as a founding member of Friends of Atascadero Wetlands. The mission of Friends of Atascadero Wetlands is to preserve, protect, enhance and restore the wetland and riparian areas of Atascadero Creek for present and future generations.

Our response to this applicatiomn focuses on the potential to pollute the creek and wetlands by adding crush waste to their current wastewater system which is on the bank of Atascadero Creek but we also have concerns about night lighting and impacts on wildlife.
