Great News for the SE Greenway!

On May 23, the Santa Rosa Planning Commission unanimously approved the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), Zoning and General Plan Amendment for the Southeast Greenway. The plan designates approximately 47-acres for a contiguous greenway that stretches from Farmers Lane to Spring Lake Regional Park and an additional 10 acres for multi-family housing and mixed use. These uses will offer a host of benefits to our community in the years ahead.

The project now goes to the City Council for approval. It is currently scheduled for a public hearing on July 9. You are invited to submit written comments to the Council and be at the hearing to show your support for the Greenway project. As the hearing date approaches, the City will post updated materials on the City’s project website: https://srcity.org/2571/Southeast-Greenway and at http://planthegreenway.com/documents/. We will send out more specific information in July when the Agenda and Staff Report become available. Stay tuned.

Join Us for a Guided Greenway Walk this Summer

Our spring walks were rained out for the first time in the Campaign’s history. We’re going to try again! The summer weather should be just right for a walk along the edge of the Southeast Greenway. You may be surprised that this land hosts three creeks, many oak and walnut trees, and wide swaths of open space that provide great views of Taylor and Bennett Mountains. Learn more about the property’s potential uses based on the City’s preferred alternative plan.

Wednesday, June 19th | 5:15 – 7:15 pm
Saturday, July 13th | 9:00 – 11:00 am

Meet walk leaders near the tennis courts at Montgomery High School. This walk is about 2.5 miles round trip on city streets and sidewalks, with stops to view important features. Terrain is mostly flat but includes one fairly steep hill. Remember to bring hats, water, snacks, sunglasses, a light jacket and anything you might enjoy on an urban walk.

Please register by emailing us at info@SoutheastGreenway.org or calling us at (707) 703-1922. Please include your name, email address and the best phone number to reach you at. Heavy rain cancels.
