Guest speaker Mitchel Cohen, author of “The Fight Against Monsanto: The Politics of Pesticides” (SkyHorse Publications: 2019), and Robin Falk Esser, Ph.D, author of Chapter 13: “Consequences of Glyphosate”  Effects on Animal Cells, Animals, and Ecosystems.” And, presentations by local environmentalists working against pesticides in Sonoma County. Learn about the inter­national movement to stop toxic contamination and what is being done locally. Find out how you can make a difference!

“The Fight Against Monsanto” explores the best strategies for winning the struggle for healthy foods and a clean environment. It draws on lessons from activists as well as scientists, and calls for new, holistic and radical approaches for defending life on this planet against ‘the poison cartel’ to bring about a future worth living in.

Mitchel Cohen coordinates the No Spray Coalition in New York City which successfully sued the City government over its indiscriminate spraying of toxic pesticides. In 2001, he ran for Mayor of NYC as one of five Green Party candidates, edited the national newspaper Green Politix, and was a founder of the Red Balloon Collective (1969) at SUNY Stony Brook.

Robin Falk Esser taught Advanced Placement Science for many years in New York City high schools, receiving the Siemens award for excellence in teaching. She received her Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics, published papers in Science and Nature, and is a life-long political activist who worked in the 1965 anti-apartheid mobilization, 1968 Poor People’s Campaign

with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Vietnam antiwar movements.
