Santa Rosa bus to protest offshore drilling, march and hearing info

From our friends at Center for Biological Diversity:

President Trump recently announced his disastrous plan to hand over all of America’s oceans to oil companies so they can drill for oil and gas offshore. But we’re not going to let our country go down that path, and we need you with us to stage a fierce defense.

Join us Feb. 8 in Sacramento to tell the administration we don’t want offshore drilling — or the oil spills, pipelines and climate chaos that come with it — off our coast. And note there are buses traveling to the event from Oakland, San Francisco, Ventura and Santa Rosa.

What: Public Hearing and Rally to Oppose Trump’s Plans to Expand Offshore Drilling
When: Thursday, Feb. 8 — the rally is at 1:30 p.m. and the hearing runs from 3-7 p.m.
Where: We’ll meet at 1:30 p.m. on the north steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento. Then we’ll march half a mile to the public hearing at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.

Offshore drilling is a nightmare for people, wildlife and the planet. It poisons our oceans, covers our beaches in oil, and threatens coastal economies. It also deepens our dependence on fossil fuels and drives climate change, accelerating sea-level rise and fueling wildfires and hurricanes.

Sign up today for the Feb. 8 rally and public hearing to defend our coasts — and let’s show Trump and his rich friends what the resistance looks like.

What: Rally against offshore drilling off the California coast with powerful speakers, music, and lots of art and chanting.
When: February 8th, 1:30 PM
Where: Gathering at the North steps of the Capitol building, 1100 L St., Sacramento, CA 95814

Offshore drilling is a nightmare for people and the planet – it poisons our oceans, covers our beaches in oil, and directly threatens California’s booming coastal economy. It also deepens our dependence on fossil fuels, driving climate change that accelerates sea level rise and fuels wildfires. But the fight to protect the California coast from new offshore drilling isn’t over yet. Let’s show Trump and his oil cronies what resistance to their unending quest to wreck the planet looks like.

Partnering organizations: Audubon California, Oceana, Greenpeace, Save Our Shores, Sierra Club, NRDC, California CoastKeeper Alliance, Sacred Places Institute, Surfrider Foundation, Food & Water Watch, Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas (CFROG) & more!
