News on Freestone

Greetings Neighbors,

We bring good tidings. Today the Board of Supervisors approved a General Plan Amendment to correct mapping mistakes and adopt an Ordinance to effect Zoning Changes in Freestone to be consistent with the General Plan. Supervisor Hopkins did a noble job defending the General Plan. This milestone follows a unanimous vote by the Planning Commission for the same.

We are all grateful to Eric Koenigshofer for leading this cause, and we would not have been successful were it not for Eric’s tenacious wisdom, keen expertise, generous hours, and big heart for Freestone.

We plan to keep you informed and engaged in future efforts, including the General Plan Update, which will require a full court press effort to acknowledge infrastructure already at capacity (roads and parking), limited groundwater resources (there is no free water), septic limitations, demands on public services, and balancing commercial with rural residential uses along the Sonoma Coast.  This effort will also become relevant when Webley submits his application for a Wine and Event Center in the future.

Thank you for the outpouring of continual support to preserve historic Freestone and the General Plan. Please celebrate the win in Freestone style!

Kindest regards,

Marylee Guinon and Scott Seidman
