Major Victory- JPMorgan Chase will stop financing private prisons & detention centers!
Center for Popular Democracy (CPD): MAJOR VICTORY TODAY!!
Following Pressure from Advocates, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Chase Stops Financially Backing Private Prisons and Detention Centers! The country has seen the images of humans in cages and heard the cries of children begging to be reunited with their parents. Our immigration enforcement system is cruel and inhumane. Providing financial backing to this industry is not and has never been morally defensible.

Today we are ecstatic to announce that after years of constant pressure from us and our amazing affiliates like Make the Road NY, New York Communities for Change, Make the Road Connecticut, Make the Road Pennsylvania, Make the Road New Jersey, and Make the Road Pennsylvania, JPMorgan Chase has decided to listen to our demands and end its harmful practice of financially backing private prisons and immigrant detention centers. This is an incredible victory for immigrant communities and for our society as a whole.
Let’s keep the momentum going!
We’ve shown you what is possible when we come together and demand justice, empathy and accountability from our corporate backers of hate and we couldn’t have won without your support.
With $10, we can continue to push banks like Well Fargo to divest from private prisons! Are you in?
With deep gratitude-
The CPD Action Team
CPD Action, and our sister organization the Center for Popular Democracy, are building a rising movement of people fighting for a future of opportunity, equality, and inclusion. We’re working on campaigns that promote a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda and win victories to improve people’s lives. Together, we’ll build a progressive future we can all be proud of.
