32nd Annual Russian River Cleanup September 21st, Saturday 8:30am to 11:30am
Come help Russian Riverkeepers and others us for a fun day with people who want to make a difference in our environment. One person does make a difference.
The watershed cleanup has opportunities from Monte Rio to Ukiah. This work is critical to ensuring the health of the Russian River.
River Cleanup Schedule
8:00 – Leaders arrive to help set up.
8:15 – Leader meeting
8:30 – Participants start to arrive/Leaders start to sign in participants
9:00 – Team Leaders meet with their groups; safety and logistics orientation.
9:15 – All volunteers have departed for their assigned beaches or canoe routes.
12:00 – 2:00* All team leaders have checked in, all supplies and volunteers are accounted for.
1:00 – ? Trash is now collected from all routes by the trash removal crews brought to the main trash collection sites and sorted. Trash is hauled off to the county landfill where tonnages are recorded.
*Due to unpredictable amounts of trash and tires on the river, some canoe routes can run 5 to 6 hours
