SoCo Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan 1 st Public Meeting: 2.25.21 @ 3:30 PM

Spread the word …. we will live with the consequences of this for good or ill, and given climate change impacts – showing some foresight would be prudent.

If you have already taken the on-line Hazard Mitigation Plan survey, thank you.  If you have not yet taken the survey, please take the survey now.

The Town of Windsor, County of Sonoma, and partner jurisdictions are working together to update the Countywide Hazard Mitigation Plan. What is hazard mitigation planning? It is a way for the County to help reduce the impacts of future hazards by planning based on what we’ve learned and the resources available.

In order to plan effectively, they need to know what Sonoma County residents know about hazards such as wildfires, floods, and earthquakes.  They need our input!

Please take the short on-line survey that is available in both English and Spanish.

Overview of Meeting:  The County of Sonoma, and participating jurisdictions, are in the process of developing a Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan in 2020-2021 per the five-year update cycle required by FEMA and the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.  We are hosting multiple public meetings to discuss this plan and the process for the community to provide input.  In this first public meeting, we will present information on the natural hazards and vulnerabilities in the County, including ways the team will  gather public input to inform risk reduction strategies. While this meeting will be held in the work week during the day – future meetings will be held in the evening and/or the weekend to reach out to as many members of the community as possible.  We will have a Spanish translator available and the meeting will be recorded, then posted on the project website.

Please save February 25, 2021 from 3:30pm  – 5:30pm for the first public meeting of the SoCo Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. Registration, agenda and webinar log-in information to be forthcoming.  …
