Best Way To Fight Climate Change? Clone 3,000-Year-Old Redwoods
Guerneville Forest Coalition Alert:
If you are a new subscriber to our email updates about the 224-acre Silver Estates logging plan near Guerneville, welcome and thanks for your interest.
Here’s the latest: for the fourth time since January, Cal Fire has postponed its decision regarding the logging plan.
The new date for the director’s decision is now Friday April 9. It seems Cal Fire is still wading through the 300+ public comments opposing the plan. That said, it rarely, if ever, rejects timber harvest plans.
Given that we have a bit more time, we’re asking for your help.
While the official public comment period has closed, we can still communicate our concerns to our elected representatives. Cal Fire is a State agency and will listen to our representatives in Sacramento if enough people speak up.
Please send an email to State Senator Mike McGuire. We’ve drafted a template to make it easy. Simply click on the link below and a pre-populated email will open. Feel free to customize, then click send.
Please also contact State Assembly Member Jim Wood and Governor Gavin Newsom using the ‘Send A Comment’ feature on their websites.
Thanks so much. Remember, we can email, wildlife cannot!
We’ll be in touch soon with further updates, including the outcome of a second GFC meeting scheduled with Supervisor Lynda Hopkins. Stay tuned and stay safe!
