Supervisors Gore & Hopkins, who are you representing? Local Groups on Cannabis Issue

Note: Supervisors Gore & Hopkins were the “chairs” of the committee who allowed this terrible ordinance to be written favoring industry over residents for a water thirsty crop during a megadrought. Is this good judgement? They were the “over sight”. Who are they working for?

Local Group makes it easy way for action:

Hi, all, we have come to the final lap and ACTION is now necessary. This is our last and best chance to stop this disaster. We have tried to make it easy for everyone to participate and to help make a difference. Please take this simple action and then forward this email to your neighbors and to like-minded friends:

  1. Read this paragraph. If you agree paste the text below into an email to all of the supervisors:

    Dear Supervisors:
I have been closely following the amendments and revisions to the cannabis ordinance for Sonoma County, have read the letters in the newspapers and the information and analysis from neighborhood groups. I’m unhappy that the County has not reached out to residents and has been influenced too much by the industry in the drafting. I have come to the conclusion that the Subsequent Mitigated Declaration is fatally flawed and unfixable. It is time to return to the Board’s earlier decision to do a project-wide EIR for Phase 2. Sonoma County needs an EIR, one which will protect our natural resources, will comply with CEQA requirements and at the same time give residents a right to their health, safety and peaceful enjoyment of their properties.

  1. Title your email “Phase 2 Cannabis Amendments – May 15th”and email it any time before the BOS meeting on Tuesday 5/18. Right now is the best time!
  2. If you would like to write a more detailed letter, here is a link to the letter to the supervisors from the Neighborhood Coalition (also attached).  You can mine it or the It’s Too Much Cannabis web site for details or simply forward the attachment and/ or the link CNA Letter to BOS and write that you agree with their concerns about the proposed amendments to the ordinance.

Thanks everyone for your tenacity and support, your donations, your letters to the editor. NOW is the time to send countless emails to the Supervisors. They do understand numbers.

It has been a long journey, fellow travelers!
