Regulations protect public from corporate greed:

Norfolk Southern Railway Had record revenue and operating income of $3.2 billion just in their 4th quarter which was a 13% increase in one year. Regulations cut in previous administration allowed them to reduce workforce by cutting almost 10,000 jobs, refused sick leave for employees. They increased the size of trains to close to 2 miles long and refused to reinvest in safety procedures recommended. RESULT: 2 major rail accidents in the span of a few weeks.

The accident prone company also increased shareholder payouts by 4,500 percent and spent a record $4.7 billion in buybacks and dividends. (Robert Reich)
